Can you edit the entities ePADD identifies?

0 votes

ePADD has identified some entities incorrectly and I am looking into how to correct them. For example: ePADD identified "The University" as an Organization entity instead of "The University of Texas at Austin" or "University of Texas at Austin." Is there a way to correct the entity name? The documentation covers how to remove misidentified entities via the kill list text files, but doesn't say anything about editing. Is this possible?

Hi Stephanie, Unfortunately ePADD does not currently support manual editing of the named entity index, beyond suppressing misidentified entities using the kill list. Increasing the accuracy of the named entity recognizer (including through the inclusion of finer grained entity types), and providing support for manual editing/correction of extracted entities, are both on the agenda for future development.

ePADD is a software package developed by Stanford University's Special Collections & University Archives that supports archival processes around the appraisal, ingest, processing, discovery, and delivery of email archives.
