Problem IMAP harvest from linked gmail accounts

0 votes

I'm running a test on ePADD using my personal email and work accounts, which are both gmail accounts. I have no problem grabbing the work email, but ePADD gives an error message that the password is incorrect for the personal email account, which I've checked and double-checked. I'm wondering if there isn't some interference due to how these two accounts are linked; I can no longer fully remember the exact nature of how I linked them up, but I believe it involves the personal account grabbing the work via POP download. Both accounts have IMAP enabled. One peculiarity which makes me think the problem with ePADD accessing my personal email is that when I log out of one account (if I have both open in the same browser), gmail logs me out of both accounts.

Hi Timothy, Gmail sometimes requires users to authenticate IMAP connections through new software by adjusting certain settings. This can show up in ePADD as a password error. Please double check that you have not received a notice to that effect within the next 24 hours.

Let us know if this does not solve your issue and we would be glad to continue to look into what might be causing the error.

You have to toggle the setting for "less secure apps."

ePADD is a software package developed by Stanford University's Special Collections & University Archives that supports archival processes around the appraisal, ingest, processing, discovery, and delivery of email archives.
