Uninstalling ePADD to start afresh

0 votes

Using ePADD on Windows and exploring the functionality I would like to remove ePADD and start over. I've read that I just need to quit ePADD, remove epadd-settings folder, which I have done, and I remove any module folders. However when I restart ePADD it has retained data in the Import screen, and I can still access the Appraisal module. What am I missing?? What else do I need to remove to start with a fresh install?

To make sure that you have cleared all previous collection data, you can simply uninstall the application from the “uninstall software” section in Windows settings. If you do not want to delete the application and redownload it, you can also delete the epadd-settings folder, but it is not required. If the epadd-appraisal folder is non-empty (and contains a user folder) you will not get the ingestion screen again when you launch ePADD, so you will either need to remove the “user” folder within the epadd-appraisal folder or delete that folder all together. Some fields of the import screen will remain filled because they are stored in your browser cache. To clear these, just clear your browser cache.

In a nutshell, either delete the application, or delete the epadd-appraisal folder (or the “user” folder inside epadd-appraisal), the epadd-settings folder, and clear the browser cache.

Thanks for this. That seems to work for me. Clearing the browser cache was the step I was missing.

BTW, in Windows 10 ePADD doesn't appear in the installed programs list and can't be removed that way, as far as I can see.

ePADD is a software package developed by Stanford University's Special Collections & University Archives that supports archival processes around the appraisal, ingest, processing, discovery, and delivery of email archives.
