Possibilties of Epadd: distributed epadds and one central hub?

0 votes

I am investigating the way we can use Epadd in collaboration with Islandora.
I read a lot of the documentation but I cannot find in a setup we thought up is even at all possible.
Would be nice if anyone could comment on our setup, if it is possible at all, or totally stupid, before we spent a lot of time trying....

Lots of independent Institutions across the netherlands

Provide a central hub for them to archive their emails, en publish their archives on a central webserver via
1. The Epadd discovery module and
2. Islandora

- the Institutions are asked to install epadd and make their own email archives
- on a regular basis they make an export of their archives and sent them to the central epadd
- there we import their archives
- then we export the archives to the discovery server
- (and we also import them into islandora but that is a different topic)

Hi Egbert,

We plan to introduce cross-institution discovery in the next major release (ePADD 7)

Hi Josh,

(maybe some of my questions are dummy questions because I am not working with epadd at the moment, so dont bother to just point me to your documentation if the questions are stupid)

  1. cross institution
So the discovery module is now organised per institution? You vacan only search in one institution at the same time?

  2. harvesting
Do you think the harvesting setup I proposed is doable, or is there a better way to do this?

Kind regards,

ePADD is a software package developed by Stanford University's Special Collections & University Archives that supports archival processes around the appraisal, ingest, processing, discovery, and delivery of email archives.
