Browse by date?

0 votes

It seems there's no way to browse (or even sort) by date in any module. When testing EPADD this seems like something that would be very useful in all the modules. After all, if you don't know who or what to look for, you can always start by date. Is this on a development queue? Or maybe I just missed how to do this? Any thoughts are welcome.

Hi Jen,

Thanks for your post! Browse and keyword search results currently default to "standard" (ascending) date order, but you can specifically instruct ePADD to return results in ascending/descending date order via the advanced search interface, available in all modules. You can also define a date range in advanced search, in combination with other search criteria.

I hope this helps! Please do share any additional feedback as we use it to help prioritize future development.

Thanks for this answer. That is helpful. I have not found that it defaults to ascending date order (at least in accessioning or processing), which is part of the problem. However, the advanced search helped: if I leave it blank and just choose date order, it shows all the email in date order which is really what we were looking for. I personally think this should be easier and more obvious.

ePADD is a software package developed by Stanford University's Special Collections & University Archives that supports archival processes around the appraisal, ingest, processing, discovery, and delivery of email archives.
