Is possible to edit "person" or "other entities"?

0 votes

I imported a collection to ePADD, however, some of the names within an email are not recognized. I go to person entities to add the name, I hit save but nothing changes. I also tried to fix the name in correspondence so that maybe it gets identified from there but it still shows as part of the text. The same thing is happening with other entities, I want to add a the institution's name under organizations, I hit save and after I go back I can see the change anymore. Is it possible to add your own entities or to fix entities not identified?

I also have another question, will the names be cut out automatically when moved to the delivery module? Or is there a way to make sensitive data invisible in the appraisal module e.g. names, money amounts, third party names. How can I know what parts of the email will be shown and which part will be cut out? Or do I have to make the entire email restricted?

Thank you

Hi Sophia,

While ePADD allows users to merge correspondents via the Edit Entities function, there is currently no way for a user to help ePADD identify entities that it does not initially recognize.

ePADD entity recognition is trained on the English language. I understand this may be less than ideal for your purposes. If there is any interest at your institution or among institutions in the Netherlands, we would be glad to provide technical information that might enable you to plug in a Dutch-language entity recognizer. Please let us know.

ePADD is a software package developed by Stanford University's Special Collections & University Archives that supports archival processes around the appraisal, ingest, processing, discovery, and delivery of email archives.
