Photo/document attachments not showing up from MBOX files created via libpst/readpst

+1 vote

I've been trying to import emails from Outlook to ePADD by converting them to MBOX files with readpst. When I did this, I separated the emails as individual files, which showed up as individual folders when I imported them. I was able to read the emails and look at entities once I'd imported them, but there were no photo/document attachments. All of the attachments were in Other Attachments.

When I looked at the attachments there, I couldn't open them, and each attachment had name like "Outlook.C____UsersvmachesDesktopLibPSTpsttest2Inbox.2619" Some of these were large enough to potentially be the actual attachments in some other form, while others were much smaller and appeared on emails that may not have originally had attachments. When I tried it again and saved the folders of emails as individual files instead, the same thing happened.

I've read the manual and looked through this forum for answers, and I'm still trying to figure out what happened. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks for your question. We've had a better experience using Emailchemy or MailStore to migrate PST files to MBOX.

ePADD is a software package developed by Stanford University's Special Collections & University Archives that supports archival processes around the appraisal, ingest, processing, discovery, and delivery of email archives.
